Before removing a store password, inviting outside buyers or sending the first traffic, follow one purchase path through entry, order, notices and exception handling. Record what happened, where it can be checked and who will retest it. That gives the team a basis for continuing, narrowing or holding the proposed opening.

Key point Every pass needs a test scope
This lesson creates a local QA working record. A selected card, ticked row or copied note does not establish a successful real order or grant authority to publish, charge, refund, send notices or change an account. Perform actual actions only within their permitted environment and scope.
Classroom case: follow a tumbler promise through the order
- Tumbler capacity (oz)
- 20
Imagine an English-language store displaying USD to US buyers and preparing to sell a 20oz tumbler through Meta and Google entry points. The ad promises delivery in 2-5 days and free shipping over $49, yet checkout might show $18 shipping. These are classroom inputs to verify, not supplier guarantees, entity or payment eligibility, or proof that earlier lessons are complete. The Canadian iPhone/Safari example in the evidence record is a different combination; it cannot extend the US result worldwide.
Continues from: Independent Store Shipping and Fulfillment: Rates, Delivery Times, and Tracking
Connect the fulfillment promise to the purchase result
If a fulfillment record already exists for a named SKU and market, bring its representative checkout rate, handling/transit wording, first scan and tracking, duties explanation, exceptions and pause action. Otherwise start with this tumbler. The inputs identify what to test; they do not establish payment, carrier performance, a tax outcome, settlement or release approval.
Questions this review resolves
Define what this QA run can establish
Launch QA joins pages, checkout, orders, email, fulfillment, policies, data and support in one path. It catches visible faults before buyers do, checks that the journey reaches its notices, and gives operations, support and the reviewer the same state. Correct-looking admin settings are the starting point for that test.
Here, PDP means product detail page; CTA (call to action) is a button or link asking the buyer to take the next step; and GA4 means Google Analytics 4.
UTM parameters label an entry link with source, medium or campaign information so reports can show how a visit arrived. ROAS (return on ad spend) compares revenue attributed to ads with ad spend; it is not profit.
What the QA record means
- Regression test
Repeat the critical path after a change to check that the repair has not broken another working step.
Where you see it After theme, app, shipping, payment, pixel or policy changes. If misread Checking only the edited setting misses effects on the storefront, phone and notifications.- User path
The full experience from entry, collection and product page through cart and checkout to order status and support.
Where you see it Ad landing page, homepage, navigation, PDP, cart, checkout, email and contact entry. If misread A passing homepage does not establish an available SKU, an admin order or a working support route.- Exception path
A non-ideal case such as failed payment, invalid address, unavailable stock, expired discount, refund or missing email.
Where you see it Error messages, the order Timeline, order status, support and refund entry. If misread One ideal order does not reveal these branches or their dead ends.- Release call
Use scoped evidence to choose Go, Soft launch, Hold or No-go, with a condition that would stop the path.
Where you see it The same issue log, evidence record and first-day monitoring plan.If misread A passing lane cannot cancel a blocker in another purchase step.
The old page saved only its evidence record. This page separates work into six records: each Save, Restore or Clear button applies to its own record. Reading choices, the main-path/mobile examples and eight manual notes can now be saved separately; they are not answers imported from the old snapshot. The quick question remains transient and must be answered again after refresh. Copying or downloading current notes is different from saving a record JSON.
Choose the path most likely to break first
Select the path that concerns you now, then read what must work, which evidence it needs and what should stop if it fails. User, order, fulfillment, data and exception paths have different closeout standards. A total score cannot describe all of them.
Which regression path needs attention first?
- Must pass
- Home, collection, product, cart, checkout, policies, and contact entry work on mobile.
- Evidence to retain
- Mobile/desktop screenshots or recording with device, market, browser, and test time.
- Stop when it fails
- Wrong CTA, blocked mobile button, or missing policy entry means no public traffic yet.
- Must pass
- Cart, address, shipping, tax, payment, admin order, inventory change, and refund can be reviewed.
- Evidence to retain
- Test order number, success page, admin order, payment/refund record, and customer notice screenshots.
- Stop when it fails
- Without a test order number, checkout has not been accepted.
- Must pass
- Primary-market rates, handling time, transit time, tracking notice, and support path align.
- Evidence to retain
- Representative checkout screenshots, shipping notice sample, tracking link, and exception lead.
- Stop when it fails
- If testing stops at payment success, shipping and tracking can still break after launch.
- Must pass
- GA4, ad events, UTM, purchase value, and order ID can be reconciled.
- Evidence to retain
- DebugView, event test, ad event test, UTM test link, and Shopify order screenshots.
- Stop when it fails
- If data is not accepted, do not use first ad data for scaling decisions.
- Must pass
- Failed payment, invalid address, out-of-stock, expired discount, missing email, and support entry have next steps.
- Evidence to retain
- Error screenshots, handling action, review lead, retest time, and buyer-facing explanation.
- Stop when it fails
- If exception paths have no guidance, real buyers leave, complain, or dispute.
Selected write-back summary
The selection appears in the working note. Run the actual or permitted test path it calls for, then return with evidence. Choosing it has not verified it.
Reconcile the tumbler promise, order and event
Keep the same product, address, device and time while comparing three layers: the promise a buyer sees, the order Shopify records, and the event the analytics or ad system receives. The free-shipping threshold and delivery wording need a consistent basis on the PDP, Shipping Policy and checkout. Do not wait for buyers to ask about the $18 rate.
Three parts of the tumbler check
Promise entry
- Evidence
- The 20oz tumbler ad promises 2-5 day delivery and free shipping over $49, so the PDP, Shipping policy, and checkout must show the same promise.
- Wrong move
- Only checking homepage visuals while skipping a primary-market address, then checkout shows an $18 shipping rate.
- Next action
- Run cart, checkout, shipping, tax, and policy screenshots with a primary US address.
Order path
- Evidence
- Complete one test order and record order number, payment screenshot, customer email, staff notification, refund test, and inventory change.
- Wrong move
- Only checking that the payment button appears, without verifying admin order, email, and refund traceability.
- Next action
- Record a redacted order reference, payment state, available refund or cancellation path, and where to review them. Simulation proves this test path, not live collection, settlement, or bank arrival.
Data path
- Evidence
- See purchase, value, currency, and transaction_id in GA4 DebugView, Meta Pixel/CAPI testing, and Google Ads conversion diagnostics. GA4, Pixel, and CAPI record visit, cart, and purchase signals; they are not decorative scripts.
- Wrong move
- Starting ads because Shopify has orders, while GA4 and ad events miss purchase, making first-week ROAS unreliable.
- Next action
- Fix Pixel/CAPI, UTM, purchase parameters, and thank you / order status tracking before judging scale.
Open the homepage, main collection, primary PDP, FAQ, policies and Contact. Follow navigation and footer links. Check title, media, price, variants, stock, delivery promise and contact information, then compare language, currency and market presentation with the intended opening scope.
Look for default policy templates, a CTA leading to the wrong or unavailable product, misplaced mobile text and media, edge targets that are hard to tap, and horizontal overflow. A working preview URL does not establish the production domain, HTTPS, canonical, robots or internal route.
Here, canonical identifies the preferred URL for a page; robots and noindex directives affect crawling or indexing. Check the production page is not pointing elsewhere or being excluded.
Follow the test order through notices and cleanup
Keep at least one reviewable test-order trail, one refund or cancellation-path check, and a full retest on the same phone. An order record, payment authorization, capture, provider settlement and bank arrival are different states. Simulation does not establish real collection or payout. An initiated real refund may be irreversible; it is not a cost-free classroom button.
Authorization approves a payment attempt but does not mean the charge was captured; capture charges the customer. For Shopify Payments, settlement is the interval after capture until funds are available for payout, payout is the transfer toward the merchant's bank, and bank arrival is the bank's later posting. Other providers can use different states and timing, so compare the relevant admin and bank records instead of treating checkout success as cash received.
First check store type, paid-plan requirements, provider setup and the test method permitted for this run. Available routes include Shopify’s Test payment gateway (formerly Bogus Gateway), Shopify Payments test mode or the provider’s own test environment, each with its own test data. Test mode affects live ordering and should not be switched on casually in a production store. The original real small-order route remains a separate action requiring authority and fee/refund review; it is not this lesson’s default.
Record ordinary cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal Wallet, Installments and subscriptions separately. Current Shopify Payments guidance permits Shop Pay credit-card tests on a store with that test mode active, using a test card whose nickname starts with test_card. It excludes Installments; PayPal Wallet is also outside that test-mode coverage. A visible button, passing ordinary card or successful desktop test cannot stand in for another method. Mark a store-specific route unverified until it is checked.
Before testing, identify automatic fulfillment, inventory, email and third-party app effects. Do not buy shipping labels or perform real fulfillment for simulated orders. Preserve shipping-notice and tracking checks through an appropriate permitted sample, sandbox or already authorized record. Afterward, read back the actual provider and mode in Settings › Payments and restore the intended setup; disabling one switch does not prove the prior provider is active again. Review payment/cancel/refund/retention state, stock, notices, tags and automation. Archiving tidies open orders; deletion has type and state restrictions. Neither replaces payment or fulfillment review.
Keep evidence before and after the order
Start from the intended entry
Use the planned ad test link or homepage, select the main variant and add it to cart. Check quantity, unit price, coupon, shipping estimate, continue-shopping and checkout controls.
Keep as evidence
Keep entry URL, SKU/variant, cart value and discount result.Use the representative address and contact route
In the permitted test environment, use a valid representative address you are allowed to use. Check country/region, postal code, phone, delivery scope, rate and duties/tax wording. Test domestic, international or remote paths only within the proposed opening.
How to confirm
A plausible postal marker does not establish a valid address or delivery to every region.Inspect successful and failed payment separately
Use the store’s available test route to examine success, decline, redirect and return behavior for the main method. Verify an actually available backup method where needed.
If it goes wrong
Failure should explain a retry or alternative. Do not perform an unauthorized real transaction to fill a test gap.Reconcile the order, stock and notices
Find the same test order in Orders. Compare payment state, items, value, stock changes, thank you/order status, customer/staff notices and reply-to address.
Keep as evidence
Keep a redacted order reference, time and evidence location; do not put customer or payment data in this page.Check refund/cancellation and the downstream route
Inspect available refund/cancel actions and notice/stock effects for this order state, provider and permission. Check shipping, tracking, returns and support lookup through a suitable test or authorized record.
How to confirm
Verify refund destination, amount and arrival for the actual method. A Refunded label does not establish bank receipt.
Payment success still leaves handling time, transit time, shipping email, first scan, tracking link and exception ownership to check. Leave unopened markets untested. If a rate or duties result cannot be explained, narrow that path first rather than rewriting a verified primary-market promise.
The original opening example records entry and product: 2/6. These editable manual example states do not establish completed work in your store. Read each evidence requirement and change the rows to describe the present work. This board cannot tick the independent five evidence checks below.
The original example records only CTA: 1/4. It is independent of the main-path board and the five evidence checks. Change each row from evidence for this run rather than treating a default as acceptance.

What each path should check and retain
Entry
- Check
- Production domain, HTTPS, and homepage is not passworded or placeholder.
- Evidence
- Production-domain screenshot and readiness scan report.
Product
- Check
- Title, images, price, variants, inventory, shipping promise, and policy entry align.
- Evidence
- Mobile product hero and variant/inventory screenshots.
Cart
- Check
- Discount, quantity, rate estimate, continue-shopping, and checkout buttons work.
- Evidence
- Cart screenshot and discount-code test record.
Checkout
- Check
- Address, region, payment methods, duties/taxes, shipping rates, and failure copy are clear.
- Evidence
- Successful order, failed path, thank you / order status screenshots.
Notifications
- Check
- Customer notice, staff notice, shipping notice, and reply-to support address work.
- Evidence
- Order email, shipping email, and reply-to screenshots.
Refund
- Check
- Refund entry, refund record, customer notice, and admin status are traceable.
- Evidence
- Refund test screenshot and order status record.
Current manual row count
Do not tick everything to improve the progress display. Another reviewer should be able to find the evidence for the same path. A count cannot supply a missing order, email or refund record.
Check phone inputs, overlays and return paths
Record a real phone model, OS, browser, network and entry. A mobile viewport can reveal layout faults early, but it does not cover a real keyboard, wallet, redirect, return or network. After desktop review, repeat home, collection, PDP, cart, checkout and thank you/order status on the phone.
Check that price, product image, variant, shipping and trust information are available without excessive scrolling, and that the first-screen CTA is easy to tap. Open the keyboard and change country, province/state, postal code, phone and payment method before reviewing field guidance, button placement and scrolling. Signup popups, chat, sticky bars, reviews, images, tables and apps can overlap controls or widen the page.
Current manual row count
Seeing a button is only the start: select the main SKU, add it to cart, enter an address, use the available payment route and return to order status. Hold a blocked purchase path; schedule minor non-purchase styling separately.
Reconcile purchase and source with one order
Order facts, analytics events and ad attribution answer different questions. Identify where each event is generated, where it can be inspected and what a mistake would affect. Before testing, check the integration, consent choices and available debugging method. Do not install another script simply to make an event appear.
Two data terms worth separating
- CAPI
CAPI means Conversions API. It lets the server send order, cart, and checkout signals to ad platforms instead of relying only on the browser Pixel.
Where you see it You usually see it in Meta Events Manager, Shopify apps, server-side tracking, or system-integration settings. If misread If CAPI and Pixel duplicate or miss orders, the ad system learns from the wrong order quality.- attribution
Attribution means assigning order credit to an ad, keyword, content piece, or channel.
Where you see it You see different attribution views in GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, Shopify reports, and UTM reports. If misread If purchase, UTM, or order value is incomplete, you may scale traffic that looks good but does not contribute profit.
CAPI does not provide permission to bypass privacy choices. Recheck collection conditions for the actual integration, platform and market. Attribution assigns credit, and reported revenue has not subtracted all product, shipping, advertising, refund and fee costs. Neither establishes profit, bank cash or independently measured incremental sales.
Four event stages and their checks
view_item
- Meaning
- Buyer viewed a product.
- Parameters and reconciliation
- item_id / item_name is not missing.
add_to_cart
- Meaning
- Buyer added item to cart.
- Parameters and reconciliation
- value, currency, and items match cart.
begin_checkout
- Meaning
- Buyer started checkout.
- Parameters and reconciliation
- Items, value, coupon, and source clues remain.
purchase
- Meaning
- Order completed.
- Parameters and reconciliation
- transaction_id, value, currency, and items must be complete.
Follow one source through the event trail
Inspect the event sequence
Use the store’s permitted DebugView, Realtime or corresponding testing surface to review product view, add to cart, begin checkout and purchase. A page_view is not a purchase.
How to confirm
DebugView needs the right debug mode and device. Normal report processing delay does not explain away a missing diagnostic event.Inspect order, item and value fields
Compare transaction_id, item_id/item_name, items, value, currency, coupon and time. Look for missing fields, wrong currency, obvious duplicates or omissions.
Keep as evidence
Keep platform, event name, parameters, test time and redacted order reference together.Repeat the tagged entry
Retain the UTM test URL and compare source clues visible in GA4, ad diagnostics and Shopify. Their reporting scopes differ; they need not assign identical attribution totals.
How to confirm
The naming should trace to this entry. Avoid rewiring pixels, events and several apps on the same day.Check browser and server integrations separately
Use Meta Test Events, Google Ads conversion diagnostics or the actual integration’s testing surface. Check whether Pixel/CAPI count the same order twice; two transport records do not automatically mean two purchases.
If it goes wrong
Locate duplicate scripts, connections and thank you/order status scope, then repeat the same path after repair.
Write down the amount basis before reconciling values. Google’s purchase example defines value as item price multiplied by quantity, with tax and shipping separate. Shopify’s Meta integration documentation describes an order total that includes duties, taxes and discounts. Match order identity, items, currency and each platform’s correct amount; a documented basis difference is not automatically a missing order.
If the order and email exist but purchase does not, Hold and inspect firing, transaction_id, value, currency, items and page/integration scope. Do not scale from ROAS or revenue in unaccepted data. Report delay does not establish that an event fault was repaired.
Give the buyer a way forward after failure
In a permitted environment, check failed payment, invalid address/unsupported region, zero stock/unavailable variants, invalid coupon, delayed email and broken contact. Each branch should tell the buyer what can change and who can help. Support also needs a lookup route. One ideal order cannot test that.
Which exception needs the next test?
- Test
- Buyer sees clear guidance and can retry or switch payment method.
- Acceptance
- No dead end, and support knows how to look up the failed order.
- Test
- Specific field is flagged, and unsupported region is clearly explained before or during checkout.
- Acceptance
- Buyer knows what can be changed instead of seeing a vague error.
- Test
- When stock is 0 or variant is unavailable, page no longer promises purchase availability.
- Acceptance
- Storefront, cart, and checkout inventory state align.
- Test
- Invalid code explains itself, value resets correctly, and checkout can continue.
- Acceptance
- Price, discount, tax, and shipping recalculate without mismatch.
- Test
- If order email is delayed or missing, buyer can still use order status or support entry.
- Acceptance
- Support has fallback lookup path and reply snippet.
Selected write-back summary
Keep the error, value rollback, order state or alternative lookup route, then retest under the same conditions. Stock and expired-discount cases also need consistent storefront, cart and checkout behavior.
Make issues reproducible and closable
Build an issue closeout table for pages/navigation, checkout/payment and data/support. List critical pages and paths, walk them on desktop and mobile, then repeat after the repair. Memory and “checked” are not a closeout method.
Four fields for an issue record
Issue
- What to record
- What exactly failed, not page feels weird.
- Close standard
- Reproducible, located, and impact is described.
Context
- What to record
- Page, device, browser, country/market, and entry source.
- Close standard
- Retested on the same path after fix.
Evidence
- What to record
- Screenshot, recording, order number, event screenshot, or email sample.
- Close standard
- Evidence proves the issue is gone, not just marked fixed.
Review lead
- What to record
- Who fixes it, when it is retested, and who closes it.
- Close standard
- No review lead and retest time means the issue is not in closeout.
Screenshots and recordings help communication, but an authorized reviewer should still be able to locate the same order, report or email tomorrow. Orders need payment/refund state, stock change and email subject. Fulfillment needs a redacted representative-address reference, rate, tax/duty display, free-shipping threshold and policy URL. Data needs parameters, UTM and test event. Mobile needs device, browser, entry, failure point, lead and retest time. Keep sensitive originals in an appropriate location you control; use non-sensitive summaries here.
After a page/navigation repair, regress both desktop and mobile. Checkout/payment needs a complete reviewable test-order trail. Data, order-status and support issues need an accountable lead, status, retest time and evidence of closure. “Fixed” alone cannot close them.
Rank issues by their effect on the buyer
Separate blockers, fixes required before launch, minor deferrable faults and issues needing observation. Payment failure and helper copy deserve different priorities. A Watchlist item still needs a metric, window and trigger action.
Which tier describes the current issue?
- Impact
- Payment fails, order misses admin, mobile checkout breaks, core policy is hidden, or production domain is unavailable.
- Rule
- Anything affecting order, payment, fulfillment promise, or support entry cannot ship.
- Review lead
- The review lead must be someone who can change settings or coordinate the fix, not a watch note.
- Retest
- After the fix, rerun the same path and attach screenshot, order number, or event record.
- Impact
- Promise copy conflicts, shipping display is vague, FAQ lacks answers, or price/inventory has minor mismatch.
- Rule
- If it does not block payment but increases refunds, inquiries, or complaints, fix it before launch.
- Review lead
- Assign to the page, policy, logistics, or support lead, not a generic content note.
- Retest
- Retest the customer-facing page, not just admin settings.
- Impact
- Small style, sorting, or helper copy issues that do not affect purchase, payment, notice, fulfillment, or support.
- Rule
- It can launch, but needs a record and planned fix time so it does not become permanent.
- Review lead
- Operations or design lead moves it into the first-week fix pool.
- Retest
- Recheck mobile and primary-market pages after launch.
- Impact
- Issues that need real traffic or orders, such as email inboxing, shipping inquiries, or market-specific rate conversion.
- Rule
- It can launch only with metric, observation window, and trigger action defined.
- Review lead
- Someone must review within 24-72 hours, not after ad spend is gone.
- Retest
- Update judgment with real orders, support records, GA4 events, and admin status.
Selected write-back summary
Write the selected rule with its impact, lead and retest method. Someone able to coordinate the repair must close a blocker. Put minor styling in the first-week fix pool; review issues requiring real orders within their agreed window.
Four launch situations that invite the wrong call
Read each signal beside the tempting action, safer decision and first evidence. The same successful payment screen can coexist with a mobile overlay, shipping surprise or incompatible tracking.
Here, 3PL means third-party logistics provider: an outside business handling fulfillment work. Its timing still needs confirmation for the route being tested.
Choose the closest blocker scenario
- Signal
- Desktop test order succeeds, but a popup or chat widget covers the payment button on mobile checkout.
- Tempting wrong move
- Launch anyway, tell buyers to close the popup, or attach only desktop screenshots to the QA table.
- Decision
- No-go. Unstable mobile payment is a launch blocker. Disable or retune the blocking widget, then rerun a mobile test order.
- First proof
- Mobile recording, device/browser, checkout screenshot, test-order result, and the blocking widget name.
- Blocked move
- Do not run public traffic and do not replace mobile acceptance with desktop proof.
- Write-back
- Write back to mobile path, issue tier, review lead, retest screenshot, and launch decision.
- Signal
- Shopify shows the test order and the customer email arrives, but GA4 DebugView or ad event testing shows no purchase.
- Tempting wrong move
- Start a small budget and wait 24-48 hours for reports to catch up.
- Decision
- Hold. Continue scoped order retesting, then inspect event firing, transaction_id, value, currency, and thank you/order status tracking. Do not scale ads from unaccepted data.
- First proof
- Test order number, DebugView screenshot, tag/pixel test screenshot, and thank you / order status tracking state.
- Blocked move
- Do not use ad-platform ROAS or GA4 revenue for scaling decisions yet.
- Write-back
- Write back to data-path acceptance, purchase parameters, system-integration copyable notes, and first-week review notes.
- Signal
- The PDP promises free or low shipping, but a primary-market test address shows high rates, no delivery, or unclear duties/taxes.
- Tempting wrong move
- Launch first and explain only when real buyers ask.
- Decision
- Must-fix. It may not break checkout technically, but it creates abandonment, refunds, and support pressure. Fix shipping rules, page promise, and policy wording first.
- First proof
- Primary-market address screenshot, shipping/duty display, PDP promise, shipping policy, and support FAQ.
- Blocked move
- Do not launch ads promising free or fast shipping.
- Write-back
- Write back to fulfillment promise, policy page, product hero, and pre-purchase support reply.
- Signal
- Checkout completes, but old scripts, app pixels, or order-status entry on the thank you / order status pages are not confirmed compatible.
- Tempting wrong move
- Payment works, so tracking and order-status pages can be upgraded later.
- Decision
- Hold while checking editor scope, app compatibility, and tracking. Consider a bounded soft launch only after the purchase path passes and the remaining gap is nonblocking and monitored; uncertain tracking cannot support scaling.
- First proof
- Checkout configuration screenshot, thank you / order status screenshots, app pixel status, and order-status access test.
- Blocked move
- Do not upgrade pages, tracking, apps, and payment settings all on launch day.
- Write-back
- Write back to launch-day pause rules, tracking acceptance, app compatibility list, and 24-72 hour review window.
Selected write-back summary
Desktop proof cannot replace a blocked phone payment. Repair shipping and policy conflicts first. When thank you/order status behavior depends on settings, apps, plan or development scope, verify that scope before deciding. Do not upgrade those pages, tracking, apps and payments together on launch day.
Shopify’s checkout and accounts editor is separate from the theme editor and covers the relevant checkout, thank you, order status and customer-account settings. Basic or higher supports standard customization and eligible thank-you/order-status apps. App customization on information, shipping and payment pages, plus advanced features, remains within Shopify Plus limits. Classify friction as a setting, app, plan-permission or development issue, then inspect the store’s current interface.
Use public scanning to choose where to investigate
Identify the production domain, HTTPS, homepage, policies, Contact and primary PDP URLs to inspect. If the site is private or passworded, record that scope. Do not remove a password or publish merely to obtain a score.
The visible form currently sends a store URL, platform hint, stage and manual confirmation flags. It does not upload or inspect order screenshots, recordings, email samples, ad-account IDs, support threads or delivery proof. Public crawl findings, an available PageSpeed result and manual confirmations have different origins. Failed, unavailable or unconfirmed evidence should remain unverified.
Store Launch Readiness Scanner
Free accountUse the supported URL, platform, stage and verified flags under the tool’s current sign-in and access conditions. Bring the report back as diagnostic leads. Keep order, event, phone and email evidence separately for manual comparison; the tool does not automatically accept those files.
Connect a diagnostic lead to manual review
- Diagnostic signal
- A public crawl can flag policy or contact pages not found or links it could not reach. Check crawl scope, the actual URL, and status before concluding a page does not exist.
- Manual review material kept separately
- Bring failed URL, page type, HTTP status, screenshot time, and review lead back to the QA table.
- Manual proof
- Manually open the pages on mobile and confirm buyers can find the same promise from product page, footer, and checkout.
- Write-back
- Write back whether the policy gap blocks launch, fixed links, retest time, and whether soft launch is allowed.
- Diagnostic signal
- The tool separates public-HTML cart/checkout signals, mobile PageSpeed results when available, and manual confirmations. It has not tapped phone controls or completed checkout for you.
- Manual review material kept separately
- Bring test device, browser, page URL, failed step, recording or screenshot, and whether the test order was rerun.
- Manual proof
- Run product -> cart -> checkout -> thank you / order status on a real phone; do not replace this with a narrowed desktop viewport.
- Write-back
- Write back whether mobile is No-go, the fixed component, test order number, and paused theme/app changes.
- Diagnostic signal
- Public pages may expose GA4, GTM, or Meta Pixel script signals. Actual purchase delivery, completeness, and deduplication still require platform diagnostics and the matching order.
- Manual review material kept separately
- Bring GA4 DebugView, Meta Test Events, Google Ads diagnostics, transaction_id, value, currency, and order number.
- Manual proof
- Manually confirm purchase is not duplicated and not only a page-view event; ad events do not replace Shopify order facts.
- Write-back
- Write back whether purchase can support first ad decisions, missing parameters, fix version, and 24-hour review window.
- Diagnostic signal
- Public pages provide policy, contact, and trust-entry signals. Email arrival, support receipt, fulfillment, and exception handling need manual checks in their own systems.
- Manual review material kept separately
- Bring issue type, buyer step affected, response lead, support reply template, shipping notification, and retest time.
- Manual proof
- Manually simulate failed payment, invalid address, out-of-stock, expired discount, and missing email so the buyer can see the next step.
- Write-back
- Write back whether exception paths block public traffic, who covers day-one support, and which exceptions are reviewed after 72 hours.
Selected write-back summary
Put report URL, failed page type, HTTP status, review time and lead into your QA table, then add the corresponding manual material. A page not found by the crawler may reflect discovery or crawl scope. A tool signal does not establish purchase, delivery or support outcomes.
Give seven checks separate Go and Hold conditions
Payment, mobile, tracking, policy, SEO, speed and support need distinct evidence. These seven review checks turn a public diagnostic or a manual flag into a retest job. They do not claim that the Scanner automatically performed every check.
Read the weakest review check first
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- HTTPS, public cart/checkout links, and manual flags are signals; they do not prove an actual payment, order, or bank arrival.
- Manual proof
- Run a test order on a real primary-market phone and keep order number, payment status, failed-payment screenshot, and refund or cancellation record.
- Condition to continue
- Test order, successful payment, order email, order status page, and refund/cancellation path all have proof.
- Condition to hold
- Payment button is blocked, redirect stalls, tax/shipping changes unexpectedly, or the order succeeds without an admin record.
- Write-back
- Write payment gateway, test-order number, failure point, retest time, and who watches failed payments on launch day.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- Read available mobile PageSpeed, HTML signals, and manual flags separately. Button visibility, tapping, and keyboard interference still need real-phone retesting.
- Manual proof
- Record the full product -> cart -> checkout -> thank you / order status path on a primary-market phone.
- Condition to continue
- Mobile can select variant, add to cart, fill address, pay, and reach order status without popups or chat widgets blocking controls.
- Condition to hold
- Desktop passes but mobile button is blocked, address entry is hard, scrolling stalls, or payment redirect fails.
- Write-back
- Write device, OS, browser, failed page, fixed component, and paused theme/app changes.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- A detected script does not prove purchase was sent. A manual flag does not mean the tool read an order or an ad account.
- Manual proof
- Save GA4 DebugView, Meta Test Events, Google Ads diagnostics, transaction_id, value, currency, and order number.
- Condition to continue
- Purchase fires once, and value, currency, order number, and ad-platform event match.
- Condition to hold
- Only page-view events exist, purchase duplicates, value is missing, currency is wrong, or thank you/order status tracking is unstable.
- Write-back
- Write which platform is usable, which parameters are missing, whether first ad learning is allowed, and the 24-hour review window.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- The scanner flags missing, broken, or unreachable privacy, refund, shipping, terms, contact, or footer links.
- Manual proof
- Check the same shipping, refund, and contact promise from PDP, footer, checkout, and order email.
- Condition to continue
- Policy pages open, promises match, and primary-market buyers can find return, shipping, and contact paths before ordering.
- Condition to hold
- Policy 404, shipping/return promise conflict, broken contact path, or checkout promise differs from the PDP.
- Write-back
- Write fixed URL, promise version, review lead, retest time, and whether soft launch is allowed.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- The scanner flags production-domain, index entry, title/description, key-link, or basic structured-data risk.
- Manual proof
- Check production domain, canonical, robots, primary PDP title/description, main collection entry, and core internal links.
- Condition to continue
- Production URLs load, titles/descriptions are not placeholders, and primary PDP/collection pages are reachable from internal paths.
- Condition to hold
- Password page remains, noindex is left on, primary pages have placeholder titles, canonical points wrong, or key internal links break.
- Write-back
- Write production URL, discovery path, fixes, retest method, and post-launch Search Console watch window.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- An available mobile Lighthouse result supplies a performance diagnostic. Failed or missing results remain unverified, not an automatic pass.
- Manual proof
- Check homepage, main collection, primary PDP, and pre-checkout path under primary-market mobile conditions, not only desktop score.
- Condition to continue
- Primary-path hero loads steadily, buy controls appear in time, and heavy scripts do not block pre-checkout actions; use Core Web Vitals reference targets of LCP within 2.5s, INP within 200ms, and CLS within 0.1, while still making the launch call from the real mobile purchase path.
- Condition to hold
- Long blank hero, oversized images, popups/tracking scripts slowing purchase path, or obvious mobile jank.
- Write-back
- Write the slow page, which LCP/INP/CLS signal is weak, suspected resource, temporarily disabled app/script, retest result, and post-launch watch item.
- Scan or manual-confirmation boundary
- The tool checks public contact, policy, and page signals. It cannot know whether an inbox receives mail, staff are on duty, or a notice arrives.
- Manual proof
- Simulate failed payment, invalid address, out-of-stock, expired discount, and missing email so buyers know who to contact next.
- Condition to continue
- Contact entry is visible, order email works, exception scenarios have guidance, and support knows what to watch on day one.
- Condition to hold
- Contact path breaks, FAQ conflicts with policy, order email fails, or exception scenarios have no response path.
- Write-back
- Write support entry, day-one response lead, template, exception tag, and 72-hour review metric.
Selected write-back summary
Each gate needs manual proof, a condition to continue, a hold condition and a write-back. One score, green item or success cannot speak for another gate. An accessible policy URL does not establish applicable legal duties; SEO basics do not guarantee indexing or ranking.
Start with the affected page and action, then interpret the score. LCP describes main-content loading, INP responsiveness after interaction and CLS layout movement. Reference good limits are LCP at most 2.5 seconds, INP at most 200 milliseconds and CLS at most 0.1, within a defined device and statistical window. Shopify’s summary uses the 75th percentile of real visits over the past 30 days; data may lag up to 36 hours, and new/private stores may have no metrics. A lab score, emulator or historical report does not guarantee this phone now. Hold a purchase path with a blank hero, late controls or blocking images/scripts/apps; log a minor non-purchase-page problem for follow-up.
Use a keyboard to check visible focus, sensible order, menus, links, variants, cart, forms, errors and contact. Check that an overlay can close and return focus to its entry. Include actual content and relevant assistive-technology review. One score or keyboard pass does not establish complete accessibility or legal compliance.
Read four lanes in one release sheet
Review public surface, checkout/order, tracking/events and operations/support together. Launch QA Command Center was the internal shorthand; the deliverable is each lane’s Go/Hold condition, evidence, confirming lead and first-hour action.
Which lane is least certain now?
- Question
- When a real visitor arrives from ads, organic search, or the homepage, can they see one consistent product promise, policy entry, and contact path?
- Condition to continue
- Homepage, main collection, primary PDP, footer policies, contact entry, and mobile hero all load, and promises do not conflict.
- Condition to hold
- Policy 404, shipping/return promise conflict, primary PDP still uses placeholder media, or mobile CTA is blocked.
- Evidence to retain
- Production domain, primary-market mobile recording, policy URLs, primary PDP hero screenshot, and retest time after fix.
- Confirming lead
- Page/content lead confirms promises; operations lead confirms public entry.
- First-hour action
- In the first hour, inspect public entry, 404s, mobile hero, and support entry; do not redesign the theme.
- Question
- Can a real buyer go from cart to successful payment, receive order email, and leave a reconcilable Shopify order?
- Condition to continue
- Primary-market mobile test order, payment state, order email, inventory change, refund/cancel path, and thank you / order status are reviewable.
- Condition to hold
- Only desktop payment passed, order email missing, shipping/tax unstable, or refund/cancel path untested.
- Evidence to retain
- Test order ID, payment/refund record, order email subject, inventory-change screenshot, and mobile thank you / order status screenshot.
- Confirming lead
- Payment/operations lead confirms order; support lead confirms what the buyer receives.
- First-hour action
- In the first hour, watch failed payments, duplicate orders, missing email, and refund entry; do not change offer structure.
- Question
- Can Shopify order, GA4 purchase, ad events, UTM, and Pixel/CAPI explain the same order?
- Condition to continue
- purchase has transaction_id, value, currency, and items, and ad test events reconcile with the Shopify order.
- Condition to hold
- Order exists but purchase is missing, duplicated, value/currency mismatches, or thank you / order status tracking scope is unclear.
- Evidence to retain
- GA4 DebugView, Meta Test Events, Google Ads diagnostics, transaction_id, value/currency, order ID, and UTM test link.
- Confirming lead
- Analytics/media lead confirms events; operations lead confirms order fact.
- First-hour action
- In the first hour, only judge whether purchase is trustworthy; do not scale from first ad data.
- Question
- When payment fails, address is invalid, stock is missing, shipping is questioned, refund starts, or email is missing, can the buyer see the next step?
- Condition to continue
- Support entry, order lookup, shipping notice, FAQ, exception copy, refund/return path, and day-one coverage are defined.
- Condition to hold
- Exception path has no guidance, support does not know where to look, policy and email promises conflict, or nobody monitors tickets on day one.
- Evidence to retain
- Failed-payment screenshot, invalid-address copy, out-of-stock message, support template, day-one support lead, and 72-hour exception review fields.
- Confirming lead
- Support/operations lead confirms exception handling; fulfillment lead confirms shipping promise.
- First-hour action
- In the first hour, watch support entry, failed payments, order email, and shipping questions; do not start complex automation.
Selected write-back summary
A passing page does not establish checkout, checkout does not establish usable purchase data, and data does not establish support. One Hold cannot be hidden by a different passing lane.
Decide which faults directly affect ordering
Compare three actions for each issue: repair today and retest the same path, delay until the setup or integration can be checked, or pause the affected opening. Use the six concrete categories and their evidence to choose the response.
Choose the most dangerous manual check
- Buyer risk
- The buyer reaches the last step but cannot pay, card fails, PayPal does not return, or discount/tax changes. That loses orders directly.
- Symptom
- Only one desktop order was tested. Mobile Apple Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal, coupon, tax, and refund path were not tested.
- Fix today and retest
- Repair the hidden button, coupon, address guidance, or actually available backup method, then rerun the permitted test path on the same phone and address. A real small transaction needs separate authority and fee review.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: payment review, payout hold, tax/currency config change, checkout app, or extension affecting checkout.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: primary payment cannot collect, real mobile checkout cannot finish, or refund/cancel path has no confirmation.
- Evidence to retain
- Mobile recording, test order ID, payment status, refund/cancel record, discount and tax screenshots.
- Record destination
- Write back to payment release check, Payment Test Order Runbook, and launch QA acceptance record.
- Decision reminder
- Payment affects revenue. Do not release it just because the button appears clickable.
- Buyer risk
- If mobile buyers cannot see price, variant, add-to-cart, shipping promise, or trust proof, they will not continue to checkout.
- Symptom
- Desktop looks fine, but mobile hero is blocked by a popup, variant choice is unclear, or the add-to-cart button is covered.
- Fix today and retest
- Fix today: disable blocking popup, lift add-to-cart layer, add price/shipping/return promise, or fix primary product media size.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: theme structure rewrite, subscription/bundle app affecting variants, or heavy scripts slowing mobile.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: mobile cannot select the main SKU, cannot add to cart, or PDP promise conflicts with checkout promise.
- Evidence to retain
- Primary-market phone model, browser, entry URL, PDP recording, variant choice, and add-to-cart success screenshot.
- Record destination
- Write back to mobile release check, speed release check, and this launch review mobile acceptance fields.
- Decision reminder
- If this opening includes phone entry, include the mobile purchase path in the first tests.
- Buyer risk
- The order may be real, but GA4, Meta, and Google Ads may not know what happened. Later media decisions become wrong.
- Symptom
- Shopify has an order, but GA4 has no purchase, Pixel/CAPI duplicates, or value, currency, and transaction_id do not reconcile.
- Fix today and retest
- Fix today: UTM test link, purchase parameters, duplicate scripts, Pixel/CAPI connection, and thank you/order status tracking scope.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: Consent Mode, server events, cross-domain payment redirect, or ad-account conversion-goal reset.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: purchase is missing or duplicated beyond interpretation, or value/currency is clearly wrong while traffic is about to scale.
- Evidence to retain
- GA4 DebugView, Realtime, Meta Test Events, Google Ads diagnostics, order ID, transaction_id, value, and currency.
- Record destination
- Write back to tracking release check, the next system-integration lesson input, and ad-event QA record.
- Decision reminder
- First traffic can be small, but purchase signals cannot be too dirty to explain.
- Buyer risk
- If buyers cannot understand delivery time, return rules, or who to contact, the result becomes support tickets, refunds, disputes, and bad reviews.
- Symptom
- PDP says 2-5 days, policy says 7-12 days; footer policy breaks; checkout shipping conflicts with the ad promise.
- Fix today and retest
- Fix today: add policy entry, align PDP/policy/checkout promises, add return conditions, and repair footer/email links.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: 3PL timing unconfirmed, duties/tax promise unclear, or subscription/preorder/custom-product rules missing.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: refund, shipping, privacy, or contact entries are missing or conflicting, or ad promises have no page evidence.
- Evidence to retain
- PDP, Shipping policy, Refund policy, Contact, checkout shipping, order-email links, and primary-market test address.
- Record destination
- Write back to policy release check, fulfillment promise check, and day-one support template.
- Decision reminder
- Inconsistent promises are not small copy issues. They become refunds and disputes.
- Buyer risk
- If failed payment, address error, missing email, shipping question, or refund request has no entry, buyers complain through platforms or payment channels.
- Symptom
- Contact page opens but nobody receives mail, order email has no reply path, or support does not know which day-one tags to watch.
- Fix today and retest
- Fix today: test support inbox, add order lookup entry, write failed-payment/address-error guidance, and assign a day-one response lead.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: support-system migration, untested automation flow, or return portal/ticket tags not connected.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: support inbox cannot receive, Contact breaks, refund/return has no response lead, or nobody covers day one.
- Evidence to retain
- Support test email, order-email screenshot, Contact URL, exception copy, day-one response lead, and 72-hour review fields.
- Record destination
- Write back to support-entry release check, post-purchase flow board, and launch QA acceptance record.
- Decision reminder
- Support entry is not a later add-on. It prevents small day-one issues from becoming complaints.
- Buyer risk
- If production domain fails, primary PDP is 404, hero loads too slowly, or title is placeholder, purchase trust and later SEO both suffer.
- Symptom
- Preview link works but production domain is unstable; homepage works but main collection or primary PDP has no internal entry.
- Fix today and retest
- Fix today: production domain, canonical, robots, main navigation, collection entry, placeholder title/description, and oversized hero image.
- Delay and retest
- Delay and retest: DNS propagation, theme performance rewrite, key app replacement, or Search Console observation window.
- Pause affected release
- Pause launch: production domain is unreachable, primary purchase page is 404, noindex remains, or mobile hero stays blank too long.
- Evidence to retain
- Production URL, main entry path, mobile-load recording, title/description, canonical, robots, and retest time after fix.
- Record destination
- Write back to SEO release check, speed release check, and post-launch Search Console watch item.
- Decision reminder
- Pages being reachable, findable, and understandable is the shared baseline for traffic and SEO.
Selected write-back summary
A PDP promising 2-5 days while the policy says 7-12 needs reconciliation even if checkout technically succeeds. Fixing a button does not resolve payment-provider review or a payout hold. Major theme work, app replacement, support migration, Consent Mode and cross-domain tracking changes need their own regression window.
Make the call from scope, evidence and a stop condition
The four states organize work; they do not act on the publisher’s account. Go still starts with a bounded opening and observation. Buyers should not discover faults in an unverified critical path.
Working limits for four release states
Go: ready for public traffic
- Evidence
- Test order, mobile checkout, email notice, refund path, GA4 purchase, policy entry, and support entry all have proof.
- Allowed work
- Open the first public traffic batch with a small budget and a clear observation window. Do not scale on day one.
- Not allowed
- Do not rewrite theme, payment, shipping, pixels, or key apps at the same time, or QA evidence becomes stale.
- Review window
- Within 24 hours, review orders, failed payments, support tickets, email delivery, and purchase events. Within 72 hours, review exceptions.
Soft launch: limited traffic
- Evidence
- Critical purchase path passes, but Watchlist items remain, such as market-specific shipping conversion, email inboxing, or support load.
- Allowed work
- Open only core markets, a small SKU set, and small budget to validate real orders and support load.
- Not allowed
- Do not open all markets, all ad sets, or promo promises. Do not treat Watchlist as fixed.
- Review window
- Review checkout drop, failed payments, shipping inquiries, refund reasons, and event completeness daily.
Hold: fix before launch
- Evidence
- Must-fix items remain: they may not block payment, but they increase refunds, inquiries, complaints, or bad data.
- Allowed work
- Continue scoped retesting, fix copy, add policy entry, and rerun mobile and order paths.
- Not allowed
- Do not send public traffic or use unaccepted data to judge ad scaling.
- Review window
- On the same day after the fix, retest the same path and attach new screenshot, order number, or event record.
No-go: do not launch
- Evidence
- A Blocker exists: payment fails, order misses admin, mobile checkout breaks, production domain is unavailable, or support/policy entry is missing.
- Allowed work
- Only fix blockers, roll back risky changes, and rerun critical-path regression.
- Not allowed
- Do not launch, do not run traffic, and do not let real buyers discover blockers for you.
- Review window
- A blocker must be closed by its review lead and retested on the same path by a second person.
Discuss soft launch only after the critical purchase path passes and the remaining gap is nonblocking and observable. Name the market, SKU set, entry, budget cap, retest time and trigger action. Missing tracking may leave data unusable and calls for diagnosis first; do not acknowledge unexplained purchase data while scaling from its ROAS or revenue.
Give the last two hours actions, confirmers and evidence
This is an example schedule, not a platform deadline. Work through T-120, T-90, T-60, T-30 and T-10: freeze risky changes, test the phone order, reconcile payment/events, align promises/support and re-rank open issues. Arrange the named second reviewer for checks that call for one. A solo operator still needs a clear authority and a later review point.
Choose the current example window
- Example time window
- T-120 minutes
- Who acts
- The launch lead closes temporary change lanes for theme, apps, payment, shipping, and pixels, leaving only blocker fixes open.
- Who confirms
- A second person confirms production domain, password page state, primary product, policy entry, and support entry.
- Evidence to retain
- Save screenshots of home, product page, policy entry, support entry, current theme version, and app list.
- Pause rule
- Unless fixing a blocker, do not change theme structure, add apps, or rewire payment and tracking.
- Example time window
- T-90 minutes
- Who acts
- The QA runner uses a primary-market mobile path from ad entry or home through cart, checkout, payment, and order status.
- Who confirms
- The operations lead confirms the order appears in Shopify and both customer and staff emails arrive.
- Evidence to retain
- Save mobile recording, order number, payment screenshot, email screenshot, and order status screenshot.
- Pause rule
- Do not send public traffic before mobile passes; desktop screenshots cannot replace mobile proof.
- Example time window
- T-60 minutes
- Who acts
- The finance or data lead opens payment admin, refund entry, GA4 DebugView, ad event testing, and Pixel/CAPI tests.
- Who confirms
- The launch lead confirms transaction_id, value, currency, and items reconcile with the Shopify order.
- Evidence to retain
- Save screenshots for successful payment, refund entry, purchase parameters, ad test event, and Shopify order reconciliation.
- Pause rule
- Hold and fix missing purchase evidence. Discuss soft launch only for a nonblocking, bounded watch item with a budget cap and retest window; do not scale from ROAS or reported revenue.
- Example time window
- T-30 minutes
- Who acts
- The fulfillment lead rechecks shipping, duties/taxes, delivery timing, discount, return entry, and FAQ with a primary-market address.
- Who confirms
- The support lead confirms first-day replies for refunds/cancellations, missing email, and failed payment.
- Evidence to retain
- Save primary-market shipping screenshot, policy screenshots, support reply snippets, and exception handling entry.
- Pause rule
- Do not launch ads promising free shipping, fast delivery, or unconditional returns until shipping and return promises align.
- Example time window
- T-10 minutes
- Who acts
- The launch lead re-sorts all open issues into Blocker, Must-fix, Can-ship, and Watchlist.
- Who confirms
- A second lead confirms first-hour monitor, budget cap, support entry, review time, and rollback move.
- Evidence to retain
- Save the launch room checklist, final decision, first-hour watch metrics, and 24-72 hour review time.
- Pause rule
- If any Blocker remains, No-go. If Must-fix remains, Hold. Only Watchlist allows limited traffic.
Selected write-back summary
Keep the actor, confirmer, first proof and pause rule for each window. Without evidence, continue the test; a chat message saying “checked” is not closure. Real payment, refund, notice and publication actions retain their own authority requirements.
Protect the paths just reviewed
Theme, overlays and apps
- Change to pause and why
- Do not redesign home, PDP, mobile structure or the pre-checkout path, or add popups, chat or checkout apps at the last minute. They can cover controls and add fees/scripts.
- First-day review
- Phone recording, cart/checkout actions, failed payment and failure points.
Rates, tax and promises
- Change to pause and why
- Do not stack changes to shipping, tax, offer, return or delivery promises. They affect orders, refunds, support and ads.
- First-day review
- Primary-market orders, rate surprises, coupon failures, refund/cancel requests and inquiries.
Tracking and events
- Change to pause and why
- After validation, pause nonessential Pixel/CAPI, GA4, UTM and thank you/order status rewiring.
- First-day review
- purchase, value, currency, transaction_id, ad test events and Shopify order reconciliation.
Keep a blocker-repair lane, record the version, affected paths and rollback, then repeat relevant regression. Do not redesign the theme, change the offer or start complex automation in the first hour. Review orders, failed payments, email, support and purchase within 24 hours, then repeating exceptions at 72 hours. This is an operating cadence, not a platform SLA.
Record device, market, cleanup and observation
Choose the combination being checked. Each row includes device/browser, market, action, failure/pause/recovery, observation and suggested severity. Untested combinations remain untested. These examples are not measurements detected from this browser.
Which evidence combination is being reviewed?
- Device and browser
- Record the real phone model, operating system, browser, and available payment method. Do not let desktop developer tools replace every mobile readback.
- Market scope
- Limit this to the primary market and representative address you intend to open. Do not turn one address into proof that every country, region, or postal code can check out.
- Check
- From entry page through product, cart, checkout, payment, thank you, order status, email, and Shopify order, record same-path evidence.
- Failure, pause and recovery
- If payment, main SKU, address, shipping, tax, or confirmation page cannot complete, pause public traffic for that path and rerun the same device and address after repair.
- Monitoring
- During the first 24 hours, watch failed payment, duplicate orders, order email, and support entry; at 72 hours, review whether exceptions repeat.
- Suggested tier
- Block launch
- Device and browser
- Record the desktop browser, viewport, and keyboard path. At minimum, verify links, menu, variants, add-to-cart, error feedback, and support entry can be found.
- Market scope
- Check public pages, policies, and contact entry for the primary market, and mark which content depends on market or language configuration.
- Check
- Use keyboard and the normal browser to travel from homepage to primary PDP, cart, and policy pages. Do not treat a visually normal page as operable.
- Failure, pause and recovery
- When a key entry cannot focus, operate, or keep promises aligned, repair and retest first. Schedule optimizations that affect only noncritical decoration separately.
- Monitoring
- During the first 24 hours, recheck public URLs, 404s, hero, and support entry; at 72 hours, bring repeated issues back to theme, content, or app decisions.
- Suggested tier
- Fix before launch
- Device and browser
- Use a representative address and device distinct from the main path. If the market is not open, record it as untested instead of substituting another market or an assumption.
- Market scope
- Check the actual currency, shipping, duty signal, delivery range, return wording, and payment method. Do not copy a primary-market configuration across every market.
- Check
- Run checkout readback only for a planned open market or remote address, and keep evidence for the same product, address, and time.
- Failure, pause and recovery
- When shipping, duties, payment, delivery, or return information cannot be explained, pause that market or address path first. Do not change a verified primary-market promise.
- Monitoring
- During the first 24 hours, review failed checkout and support issues by market; at 72 hours, decide whether to keep open, narrow, or gather more proof.
- Suggested tier
- Fix before launch
- Device and browser
- Record the test payment method, whether a test environment was used, and what the order, inventory, notifications, and automation actually left behind. Do not enter account, card, or customer details.
- Market scope
- Record only the market and order path used for this test. Real orders, other markets, and third-party apps still need review in their own surfaces.
- Check
- Read back payment, cancellation, refund or retention state, inventory, notices, tags, and automation. Record the intended cleanup and effects; do not buy a label or perform real fulfillment for a simulated order.
- Failure, pause and recovery
- If it is unclear whether the test environment still affects live checkout, how cleanup changes inventory or notifications, or whether automation can misfire, pause public traffic and recheck the real admin first.
- Monitoring
- During the first 24 hours, recheck post-test settings, inventory, and notifications; at 72 hours, confirm test state is not being read as a real-order trend.
- Suggested tier
- Fix before launch
- Device and browser
- Record the real device, network condition, browser, and page URL. Performance reports and simulated results are not an immediate guarantee on the same device.
- Market scope
- Prioritize homepage, main collection, primary PDP, and pre-checkout path in the primary market. Content and app combinations can differ by market.
- Check
- Combine real-device readback, keyboard operation, and the current performance report to record the exact page and symptom that affect a buyer continuing to order.
- Failure, pause and recovery
- When loading, interaction, layout, or keyboard path blocks the main journey, pause the affected entry and inspect theme, app, image, or script. Without evidence, do not turn one score into a pass.
- Monitoring
- During the first 24 hours, watch real-device feedback and critical paths; at 72 hours, review repeating symptoms together with performance reports or support records.
- Suggested tier
- Observe after launch
Selected matrix tier
The five review checks start empty. scope, matrix, severity, cleanup and monitor must all be recorded before the result says the record is ready. The main 2/6 example, mobile 1/4 or another selection cannot tick them. This measures record preparation, not release permission.

Test cleanup and follow-up
Start with item 1.
Example: next step after reviewing cancellation, refund, inventory, and notifications in the real admin
Example: Hold; do not open this entry until primary-market mobile payment completes
Example: 24h review failed payment and order email; 72h review repeated exceptions and support issues

The two records retain the six evidence text fields; the first also keeps the selected row, five review ticks and evidence answer. Imported line breaks and an incorrect answer stay as saved. The old textareas were unbounded; each native long-text field has a 2,000-character cap, with existing per-record text and storage limits. Keep longer originals separately; arbitrary-length legacy notes are not claimed lossless. Save/restore/download/clear affects its own group. If a browser operation fails, the current notes remain available for manual copying.
What does “checked” mean without evidence?
The quick question retains its original option order and separate feedback. It has no saved-record binding: refresh requires another answer. Its current feedback appears in the copied working note.

Route the earliest unresolved gap to repair
If refunds, lost parcels, missing email or failed payments lack an owner, build the support path. If rates, timing, duties, tracking or exception promises are unclear, return to fulfillment. Once QA evidence is ready, connect orders, data, support, inventory and review cadence. A route does not establish that its prerequisites are complete.
Give refunds, lost parcels, email failures and inquiries an owner, response boundary and escalation route. Pass an exception that cannot be handled today to someone able to decide, and record the next contact or review time.
Choose the current repair route
- Next action

The note begins with current selections and specific summaries, then the six evidence texts and eight notes. It ends with complete, unfiltered reference sentences so every original branch’s full advice and reason can be found. Those references are not all active at once. Copy/download .txt produces current working text; saving group JSON stores the browser record. Neither substitutes for the other.

Two-hour window and pause rule: Open the launch room and pause risky changes; T-120 minutes: Unless fixing a blocker, do not change theme structure, add apps, or rewire payment and tracking. Manual write-back after scanning: Policy and trust-entry gaps; Write back whether the policy gap blocks launch, fixed links, retest time, and whether soft launch is allowed. Current review-gate write-back: Payment release check; Write payment gateway, test-order number, failure point, retest time, and who watches failed payments on launch day. Release lane and first-hour action: Public surface lane; In the first hour, inspect public entry, 404s, mobile hero, and support entry; do not redesign the theme. Final manual-check reminder: Checkout and payment; Payment affects revenue. Do not release it just because the button appears clickable. Exception-path acceptance: Failed payment; No dead end, and support knows how to look up the failed order. Complete unfiltered reference follows. Locate the current branch named above; these are not automatic release conclusions: Current regression path and stop line / User path: Wrong CTA, blocked mobile button, or missing policy entry means no public traffic yet. Current regression path and stop line / Order path: Without a test order number, checkout has not been accepted. Current regression path and stop line / Fulfillment path: If testing stops at payment success, shipping and tracking can still break after launch. Current regression path and stop line / Data path: If data is not accepted, do not use first ad data for scaling decisions. Current regression path and stop line / Exception path: If exception paths have no guidance, real buyers leave, complain, or dispute. Issue tier and rule / Blocker: do not launch: Anything affecting order, payment, fulfillment promise, or support entry cannot ship. Issue tier and rule / Must-fix: fix before launch: If it does not block payment but increases refunds, inquiries, or complaints, fix it before launch. Issue tier and rule / Can-ship: okay to launch: It can launch, but needs a record and planned fix time so it does not become permanent. Issue tier and rule / Watchlist: monitor after launch: It can launch only with metric, observation window, and trigger action defined. Blocker scenario and advice / Mobile payment button is blocked: No-go. Unstable mobile payment is a launch blocker. Disable or retune the blocking widget, then rerun a mobile test order. Blocker scenario and advice / Test order succeeds but purchase is missing: Hold. Continue scoped order retesting, then inspect event firing, transaction_id, value, currency, and thank you/order status tracking. Do not scale ads from unaccepted data. Blocker scenario and advice / Primary-market shipping surprises buyers: Must-fix. It may not break checkout technically, but it creates abandonment, refunds, and support pressure. Fix shipping rules, page promise, and policy wording first. Blocker scenario and advice / Thank you / order status tracking risk: Hold while checking editor scope, app compatibility, and tracking. Consider a bounded soft launch only after the purchase path passes and the remaining gap is nonblocking and monitored; uncertain tracking cannot support scaling. Two-hour window and pause rule / T-120 minutes Open the launch room and pause risky changes: Unless fixing a blocker, do not change theme structure, add apps, or rewire payment and tracking. Two-hour window and pause rule / T-90 minutes Run one full mobile test order: Do not send public traffic before mobile passes; desktop screenshots cannot replace mobile proof. Two-hour window and pause rule / T-60 minutes Reconcile payment, refund, and purchase event: Hold and fix missing purchase evidence. Discuss soft launch only for a nonblocking, bounded watch item with a budget cap and retest window; do not scale from ROAS or reported revenue. Two-hour window and pause rule / T-30 minutes Confirm fulfillment promise and support response path: Do not launch ads promising free shipping, fast delivery, or unconditional returns until shipping and return promises align. Two-hour window and pause rule / T-10 minutes Make the Go / Soft launch / Hold / No-go call: If any Blocker remains, No-go. If Must-fix remains, Hold. Only Watchlist allows limited traffic. Manual write-back after scanning / Policy and trust-entry gaps: Write back whether the policy gap blocks launch, fixed links, retest time, and whether soft launch is allowed. Manual write-back after scanning / Mobile and checkout blockers: Write back whether mobile is No-go, the fixed component, test order number, and paused theme/app changes. Manual write-back after scanning / Tracking and purchase proof gaps: Write back whether purchase can support first ad decisions, missing parameters, fix version, and 24-hour review window. Manual write-back after scanning / Operations response and exception gaps: Write back whether exception paths block public traffic, who covers day-one support, and which exceptions are reviewed after 72 hours. Current review-gate write-back / Payment release check: Write payment gateway, test-order number, failure point, retest time, and who watches failed payments on launch day. Current review-gate write-back / Mobile release check: Write device, OS, browser, failed page, fixed component, and paused theme/app changes. Current review-gate write-back / Tracking release check: Write which platform is usable, which parameters are missing, whether first ad learning is allowed, and the 24-hour review window. Current review-gate write-back / Policy release check: Write fixed URL, promise version, review lead, retest time, and whether soft launch is allowed. Current review-gate write-back / SEO release check: Write production URL, discovery path, fixes, retest method, and post-launch Search Console watch window. Current review-gate write-back / Speed release check: Write the slow page, which LCP/INP/CLS signal is weak, suspected resource, temporarily disabled app/script, retest result, and post-launch watch item. Current review-gate write-back / Support-entry release check: Write support entry, day-one response lead, template, exception tag, and 72-hour review metric. Release lane and first-hour action / Public surface lane: In the first hour, inspect public entry, 404s, mobile hero, and support entry; do not redesign the theme. Release lane and first-hour action / Checkout and order lane: In the first hour, watch failed payments, duplicate orders, missing email, and refund entry; do not change offer structure. Release lane and first-hour action / Tracking and event lane: In the first hour, only judge whether purchase is trustworthy; do not scale from first ad data. Release lane and first-hour action / Operations and support lane: In the first hour, watch support entry, failed payments, order email, and shipping questions; do not start complex automation. Final manual-check reminder / Checkout and payment: Payment affects revenue. Do not release it just because the button appears clickable. Final manual-check reminder / Mobile product path: If this opening includes phone entry, include the mobile purchase path in the first tests. Final manual-check reminder / Purchase tracking and events: First traffic can be small, but purchase signals cannot be too dirty to explain. Final manual-check reminder / Shipping, refund, and policy promises: Inconsistent promises are not small copy issues. They become refunds and disputes. Final manual-check reminder / Support and exception entry: Support entry is not a later add-on. It prevents small day-one issues from becoming complaints. Final manual-check reminder / Public pages and speed: Pages being reachable, findable, and understandable is the shared baseline for traffic and SEO. Exception-path acceptance / Failed payment: No dead end, and support knows how to look up the failed order. Exception-path acceptance / Invalid address / unsupported region: Buyer knows what can be changed instead of seeing a vague error. Exception-path acceptance / Out of stock / unavailable variant: Storefront, cart, and checkout inventory state align. Exception-path acceptance / Expired discount: Price, discount, tax, and shipping recalculate without mismatch. Exception-path acceptance / Missing email / support entry failure: Support has fallback lookup path and reply snippet. Next route and action / Exception paths lack a response path: Turn refunds, lost parcels, missing emails, failed payments, and inquiries into a support response path. Next route and action / Fulfillment promise is not accepted: Return to shipping and align rates, timing, duties, tracking, and exceptions first. Next route and action / QA passed, connect the operating system: Move into system integration and connect orders, data, support, inventory, and review cadence. Current evidence answer and reason / Record actual scope first; Hold a critical step without proof: Record device, browser, market, order proof, cleanup action, and 24/72 hour observation for the current open path; Hold first when a critical step lacks proof. Correct. This keeps Go, Soft launch, Hold, or No-go in the existing decision sheet while adding the missing test scope, cleanup, and observation record. Current evidence answer and reason / Use one desktop order for every device and market: After one desktop test order succeeds, mark every phone, browser, and market as passed. Not enough. Device, browser, market, address, shipping, payment, and content configuration can differ. Untested remains untested; one result cannot replace it. Current evidence answer and reason / Open traffic now and add cleanup/monitoring later: Open traffic first and deal with test order, test state, and first 24/72 hour observation when there is time. Not enough. When test state, inventory, notification, or exception impact is unclear, new real traffic only makes evidence harder to interpret. Read back and record the current path first. Current quick-answer feedback / Launch first and learn from real users: That makes real users your QA team. If payment, email, or data breaks, first traffic becomes debugging cost. Current quick-answer feedback / Run full regression and keep evidence first: Correct. Launch QA is accepted by order number, screenshots, event records, review lead, and retest status, not by how the pages look. Current quick-answer feedback / Desktop works, mobile can wait: Not enough. If the opening scope includes mobile entry, test its inputs, popups, and payment controls. Desktop success cannot replace proof for that phone path.
Keep the full record in a suitable location you control, with sources, version, date and next review time. Hand it to an authorized reviewer. If clipboard access fails, select the preview and copy manually. Successful copying does not establish a passing purchase path.

Close this QA run with a reviewable path
Use the sequence below for planning and review. Actual account, transaction, refund, notice and publication actions still require their own permissions. Completing local records only saves the learning work.
Close this QA run with a reviewable path
Lock the launch window, primary market, and paused-change scope
Write market, SKU set, actually available payment method, entry, budget cap and window. List theme, app, payment, shipping, pixel and policy areas held unchanged. Rerun affected evidence when scope changes.
Keep as evidence
Evidence should identify market, product, address scope and time.Run the Shopify test order and payment path
Use the store’s permitted Test payment gateway/Bogus, Shopify Payments or third-party test route. Record redacted order reference, success/admin state, available refund/cancel path, stock and notices. A real small transaction is not the default exercise; check authority, fees and refund conditions separately.
Caution
Do not buy labels or auto-fulfill simulated orders. A real refund is not a freely reversible test.Recheck shipping, duties, discounts, and order status with a primary-market address
Use a valid primary-market representative address you may use to review shipping, tax/duties, coupon, customer email, thank you/order status and return entry. Keep evidence location, time and reviewer. Record other markets and remote addresses separately.
How to confirm
One address does not establish all postal codes, countries or tax outcomes.Test the mobile path from home to payment button
Use a mobile viewport for early layout review, then a real phone through entry, PDP, cart, checkout, coupon, popup, payment redirect and return. Check overlays, keyboard, fields, overflow and policy entry explicitly.
Keep as evidence
Keep device, OS, browser and same-path retest evidence.Validate GA4 purchase and Pixel/CAPI purchase
Use available DebugView/Realtime, Meta Test Events, Google Ads or integration diagnostics to reconcile events and transaction_id, value, currency and items. Document amount bases and omissions/duplicates. Do not scale from revenue while purchase is missing.
If it goes wrong
Repair events/connections, then repeat under the same order conditions. This does not establish payout.Write Store Launch Readiness Scanner findings into the release check matrix
Split diagnostic leads into payment, mobile, tracking, policy, SEO, speed and support. Submit only the tool’s supported URL and flags; keep screenshots, orders and emails separately, and add manual Go/Hold evidence.
How to confirm
Keep unverified items unverified and label manually confirmed evidence by origin.Use the launch release decision sheet for the final call
Review public surface, checkout/order, tracking/events and operations/support together. Deal with any Hold instead of covering it with another pass. Hand over the decision sheet, not an internal English label or a score.
How to confirm
Give every lane a confirmer and first-hour action.Write a reviewable launch QA record and run first-hour monitoring
Record the Go/Soft launch/Hold/No-go scope, first proof, reviewer, frozen changes, repair lesson, first-hour monitoring and 24/72-hour observations. Save the relevant records, then copy current notes. Keep versions and dates when updating.

The handoff is a record another person can review, not release or legal certification.
Leave one scoped judgment and the next missing piece of evidence. When real conditions change, verify the same path again before updating the record.
Questions before opening
Launch QA questions
- When do I actually need to work through launch checklist and QA?
- Use it before removing the password, sending public/ad traffic or inviting outside buyers. Review the same page, order, notice, fulfillment, data, policy and support path. Define scope and authority first; visual approval is insufficient. What should I check before launching a Shopify store? Keep scoped evidence for production domain/HTTPS, mobile PDP-to-checkout, order/payment state, refund or cancellation path, shipping/tax, email, policies, GA4 and enabled ad events, support and first-hour monitoring. Do not mark disabled or untested methods as passed.
- Is one test order enough for launch QA?
- One order covers its product, device, browser, method, market and address. Mobile, email, cancel/refund, events, rates and support still need separate checks. Simulation also does not establish real settlement. Do I still need manual QA after Store Launch Readiness Scanner passes? Yes. The tool reads bounded public pages, available performance diagnostics and manual flags, not your order, recording, email or ad-account evidence. It provides leads; the corresponding systems still need manual review.
- Can I launch ads if the test order works but GA4 purchase is missing?
- Do not scale directly. Hold to inspect firing, parameters and page/integration scope. Only a remaining bounded, nonblocking watch item can support a separately considered soft launch with a budget cap, retest time and stop line; unaccepted revenue cannot judge ads.
- Is a blocked mobile payment button a No-go issue?
- Hold the affected path when primary-market mobile cannot cart, check out or pay. Repair popup, sticky bar, chat or app conflicts and retest the same phone path. Desktop screenshots do not substitute.
- When can I soft launch, and when should I call No-go?
- Use No-go/pause when buyers cannot order, pay, receive needed notices, find policies or reach support. Hold significant promise/data faults. Discuss soft launch only for observable nonblocking issues with traffic, budget, time and trigger limits.
- How should I use the Scanner Release Gate Matrix?
- Give payment, mobile, tracking, policy, SEO, speed and support separate diagnostic signals, manual proof, Go/Hold conditions and write-back. Do not imply the tool automatically tested every gate or replace them with a score. Which four lanes should the launch release decision sheet review? Public surface, checkout/order, tracking/events and operations/support. Launch QA Command Center names that release sheet. Each lane needs conditions, evidence, confirmer and first-hour action; one Hold cannot be hidden by another pass.
- Do Core Web Vitals need to be all green before launch?
- Not always. LCP 2.5 seconds, INP 200 milliseconds and CLS 0.1 are references with device and statistical scope; Shopify RUM can also lag. Hold a blank or blocked main purchase path. Log a minor noncritical-page fault for follow-up.
- How should the final manual launch check decide fix today, delay and retest, or pause launch?
- Fix today requires a same-path retest and new evidence. Provider review or larger theme/app/Flow/tracking changes need delay. Pause the affected opening when ordering, payment, notices, promises, support or interpretable purchase evidence is at risk. How should I run the 2-hour launch room checklist? Use T-120/90/60/30/10 example windows for change freeze, phone order, payment/events, promises/support and final triage. Give each an actor, confirmer, proof and pause rule. The schedule is not a platform deadline.
